Wetrooms - Channel Island Ceramics

What is a wet room? The term wet room can be used for a shower without a tray or a screen, though this would also extend to a shower with a glass screen or door; but without a standard shower tray. These are often fitted flush with the floor but for plumbing reasons the base is often raised.

The most important issue with any shower is the provision of enough space to move around. Did you know that the average person only uses a foot space of about 400 x 400mm but needs an upper body space of over a metre wide with elbows extended?

What about potential leaks particularly with wet room showers? It is very simple to fit a proprietary waterproofing, or tanking, system behind the tiles. There are many ways to tank a room and over the last thirty years we have tried them all with differing degrees of success. We now have four, very easy to install, tanking systems that have been tried and tested for the last 20 years. We believe that that a shower should only be tiled after the area is fully tanked and there is no possibility of it leaking.

Members of our staff are qualified to explain how to build a wet room. Using a proprietary system takes the experimentation out of the equation and ensures there are no problems in the future.
